This Week from the Trail

Friday, April 17th, 2009

It has been another great week on the campaign trail!

On Monday afternoon we had some great meetings in Cocke County.

Then on Tuesday morning we were in Carter and Unicoi Counties getting to know folks and building our organization there.

On Thursday, we had a series of great meetings all over Middle Tennessee. We ended the day in Sumner County at the Reagan Day Dinner. Senator Corker’s speech was spot-on, and it was great to see old friends and meet some new ones.

On Friday I’ll be in Nashville, Clarksville, and Lebanon. I hope to see as many of you as I can! Please keep checking back to my blog and to www.BillHaslam.com for updates from the campaign trail.

Republican Women’s Day on the Hill

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

On Wednesday, Crissy and I were in Nashville with the Tennessee Federation of Republican Women celebrating Republican Women’s Day on the Hill. Click here to check out the pictures!

It was great to see so many of the friends we’ve made so far on the campaign trail, and to make some new ones, too.

The Republican Women truly are, as President Reagan said, the heart and soul of the party, and with this event they’ve proven again just how big a difference they make.

I hope you’ll take a few minutes to check out the pictures here, and I’ll be posting again soon. Be sure to check back to www.BillHaslam.com for updates!

Mule Day Update

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

It’s been a great week travelling across Tennessee getting to know you better.

I want to give you a little update on what we’ve been doing.

On Friday, I was in Johnson City for the Washington County Lincoln Day Dinner. What an awesome crowd! I really enjoyed visiting with everyone, and Senator Corker’s keynote address was right on target.

On Saturday, Crissy and I were in Columbia, Tennessee to celebrate Mule Day. It was a lot of fun, but I understand why Senator Alexander says you always want to be near the front – ahead of the Mules!

Jerry Mansfield did an outstanding job setting everything up for us. Our morning started at the Farm Bureau breakfast which is always great. Then we stopped by Columbia Academy where Mayor Gentner and Hazel helped Crissy and I make lots of new friends. Then there was the parade and a few other great stops. You can view some of the photos and share your favorite Mule Day stories with us here.

After a beautiful day in Columbia, we drove over to Dayton for the Rhea County Lincoln Day Dinner. It was another great crowd, and I was eager to see old friends and meet some new ones. It was great to get a chance to hear Governor Dunn again.

On Monday afternoon, we drove to Crossville where Cumberland County Mayor Brock Hill pulled together a lunch group at Boston’s. It was a great crowd – standing room only! Then we drove over to Cookeville for another great meeting.

I’ll be visiting Nashville on Wednesday for the Republican Women’s Day on the Hill Luncheon. I know that will be a great event and I’m looking forward to it.

Expect pictures from the luncheon soon. I’ll be back in touch with another update, and keep checking www.BillHaslam.com for new photos and information.
